Shenandoah Biotechnology began in April of 2006. Our home office and lab are conveniently located in Warwick, Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia. Our vision is to provide a superior source of recombinant cytokines for research applications to the academic and industrial world.
Our owners are dedicated scientists, just like you, who work in our lab. We understand your science and can directly communicate with you. Shenandoah is a privately held company that is designated as a certified Woman Business Enterprise by the state of Pennsylvania.
At Shenandoah, we specialize in the manufacturing of recombinant proteins from E.coli. Our current product line is mainly focused on cytokines, chemokines and growth factors typically used in a wide variety of research applications. We are dedicated to helping you with all areas of your research including cancer, stem cell biology, immunology, developmental biology and many others. We also offer a line of polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies that complement the use of our proteins. In addition to the products in our catalog, we provide services that are comprised of: inclusion body protein folding and purification, custom protein expression, and bulk (milligrams to grams) protein production of most products. We are your “One-Stop Protein Shop”!
For inquiring minds that are curious to know where our name came from, it is quite an interesting story. One of our owners became involved in animal rescue in 2002 and this is how our story begins. They were rescuing Maine Coons (a breed of cat) from the area around Shenandoah Mountain, in upstate New York, on the Appalachian Trail. There was one particular 10 day old, fire engine red kitten, who stole their heart. She had a bad eye infection but it was love at first sight and she was named Shenandoah (affectionately shortened to Doah Doah). The kitten turned into an incredible, beautiful cat that loved life and having fun. In honor of this cat, Shenandoah, comes our name Shenandoah Biotechnology.
To continue to honor Doah Doah, our company also donates a dollar per order to the Hurricane Pets Rescue (HPR). This is a nationwide, no kill, non-profit rescue that provides shelter and care for the animals that become homeless because of a hurricane. For more information here is their web site: ttp://www.hurricanepetsrescue.org/If you are ever in the Philadelphia area, please call us for a tour of our facility. You can meet our rescue cats that help run the office!
